Great is Thy Faithfulness

Lamentations 3:22b, “…great is thy faithfulness.”

Where does one even begin to describe the faithfulness of God? God truly has been faithful to us. He has not and will not ever fail us. In a world with very few absolutes, one absolute that we do have is the faithfulness of God. We can always count on Him to be there when we need Him (which is all the time.)

God is faithful to protect us. Too many times we take for granted our safety. Just think about the risks of travelling. We can try and be as safe as possible, but it is God who keeps us safe. Proverbs 21:31 reads, “The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.”

God is also faithful to provide for us. I’ve never had a need that was too big for God to meet. There is not such thing. He has met my physical, financial, emotional, and mental needs to just name a few. God even lets us know He will take care of us in Philippians 4:19 which says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Lastly, God is faithful to produce through us if we will let Him. We ought to have a desire to do something for God with our lives, and what better way to do something FOR God than to do it THROUGH God. Philippians 4:13 reads, “I can do all things THROUGH CHRIST which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 1:6 also states, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”

No time would be enough time for me to list all the areas where the Lord has been faithful to me. I just love it when we sing “Great is thy Faithfulness.” in church. I have listed the lyrics of the chorus below because they are so true. I pray that I would never forget the faithfulness of the Lord.

Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
