Turned His Face…and Prayed

II Kings 20:1-2, “…Thus saith the LORD, set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,…”

Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah to tell him to make sure his house was in order because it was soon time for him to pass away. This would be a big moment not just for his life, but for his family’s life as well. Instead of panicking and trying to figure things out on his own, he immediately went to the Lord. Many times in life, wrong decisions are made in big situations because the decision maker does not seek the Lord about it. People try to do what they think is right. They make their “pros and cons” list instead of asking the all-knowing God. Hezekiah sought God in an important time in his life, and God heard him. God healed him and gave him 15 more years of life.

How better off this world would be if people would just seek God in the major decisions (and non-major decisions) of their lives. My prayer is that I would seek God when making life decisions for He knows what is best for me! Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
