A Mind to Work

Nehemiah 4:6, “So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.”

In the book of Nehemiah, the people are rebuilding the wall under the leadership of Nehemiah. This verse comes right after the people were mocked for building the wall. There were a few people that decided just to mock Nehemiah and the people for trying to rebuild the wall. Nehemiah 4:1 says, “But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.”

Despite the opposition, the people still built the wall. In the Christian life, there will always be opposition when doing a work for God. Satan can’t stand seeing things done for the Lord, so he will fight it. Satan’s opposition in our life is a good thing though. It confirms that we are doing something for the Lord. We must determine that we will have a mind to work, so the opposition will not keep us from doing God’s work. Stay focused and do something great for God!
