Nehemiah 13:11, “Then contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place.”
Forsaken means to abandoned or rejected. It seems today that the house of God is being abandoned. So many people seem to make excuses to not go to church. They can’t go to church because they have a cough, but they will go to work the next day with the same cough or a worse one. Some will skip church because the game is on, but they could easily record it and watch it later. There’s churches that are having to throw Superbowl parties just to get people to come on that Sunday.
Why is the house of God being forsaken? Why is that businesses seem to be springing up left and right, but churches are closing their doors? God’s house should be the priority and highlight of our week! May we continue to go to the house of God. Hebrews 10:25, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Let’s never forsake the house of God for anything.
