Micah 3:11, “The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the Lord , and say, Is not the Lord among us? none evil can come upon us.”
This passage we have many types of people doing good things, but they are not doing it for the right reasons. People are judging for rewards. The priests are teaching just because it is a job. The prophets are prophesying just for the money. These people are doing good things, but they have the wrong motivation behind their actions.
Many Christians today do the right things for the wrong reasons. They think they can fool people, and they are right, However, they cannot fool God. God knows why we do what we do. It is God, and God only, that can give the increase to the work we are doing for the Lord. Psalm 127:1 says, “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” I Corinthians 3:6 says, “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” When we do the Lord’s work, we need the Lord to be with us. We must do God’s work the Lord’s way with the proper motive behind us, for that is the only way that God will bless our work.
