By Their Fruits Ye Shall Know Them

Matthew 7:16-20, “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”

Every Christian’s life can be represented as a tree. Trees are meant to bear fruit, and I believe every Christian wants to bear fruit. However, the quality of the fruit is determined by the quality of the tree. A good tree will produce good fruit, and a corrupt tree will produce corrupt fruit. We can know the quality of the tree just by looking at the fruit. What kind of fruit are you producing in your life? Are you producing good fruit or are you producing corrupt fruit?

Trees can look good on the outside, but produce bad fruit. This is not a fruit problem. This is a root problem. There is an underlying problem producing a corrupt fruit even though the outside may look fine. Just because the tree looks good, does not mean the rest is, but if the roots are good, the tree will be good, and consequently the fruit will be good. Let’s focus on being the tree that we need to be. If we keep our lives right in every area, then the roots and tree will be good, and we will produce good fruit. What kind of fruit are you producing today?
