Where Your Treasure Is, There Will Your Heart Be Also

Matthew 6:19-21, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Every person lays up treasure during one’s life, but not everyone lays up treasure in the same place. Some lay up treasures here on earth while others lay up treasures for themselves in Heaven. So many people are too concerned about what they can get in this life that they do not take thought of eternity. They spend every dime they have on new clothes, new cars, new technology, entertainment, etc., but they do not give any of their extra money to the Lord. I’ve heard said that America spends more money on dog food than it does on animals. I’m not saying dog food is a bad thing, but if it comes down to dog food or spreading the Gospel to the 4 corners of the earth, the choice should be quite simple. We ought to give our tithe to the Lord at the minimum, but if all we do for the Lord is our minimum, does He really have our heart. Our heart is usually where our wallet is. Let’s invest our time and money into our local New-Testament churches. You can have temporary treasures on earth, or you can have eternal treasures in Heaven. What will it be? Where is your heart today?
