Nevertheless, At Thy Word, I Will

Luke 5:5, “And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.”

Simon Peter and those that were with him had been fishing all night, and they had caught nothing. They had come in from fishing, and Jesus told them to go back out and put down their nets one more time. Peter had some doubts saying that had fished all night and caught nothing, but he still chose to follow and obey the Lord.

When they put down their nets, something amazing happened. Luke 5:6-7 says, “And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.” Amazing things can happen when we obey and follow the Lord. There will be times where doing what God says may not seem like the best option. It may not even make sense to us. However, our response should be the same as Peter’s response. “Nevertheless, at thy word, I will.”
