John 2:5, “His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.”
What a statement made by Jesus’ mother, Mary, at the wedding in Cana. They had run out of wine at the wedding. Jesus told people to fill the water pots with water. After this was done, Jesus had them pour out the water. As they poured out the water, it came out as wine. This was the first recorded miracle performed by Jesus.
Mary knew what Jesus was capable of and told those around to do whatever it is Jesus asked them to do. She knew she could trust Jesus. She understood the importance of following the instructions Jesus would give. We also must understand the importance of following the words of Christ. He has given much to us in His Word, and we must trust Him enough to obey and follow him. Whatever God tells us to do, we ought to do it. It sounds very simple. The reason it sounds so simple is because it is simple! Following God is not difficult, but it does take work. It’s a daily commitment to choosing to obey God today and continuously making that decision every day. Let’s start with today. Whatever we know God wants us to do today, let’s do it!
