They Ceased Not to Teach and Preach Christ

Acts 5:42, “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.”

Why is it that as the world gets worse and worse it seems that people are preaching Christ less and less. It should be quite the opposite. As the world gets darker, we should do our best to shine the light of Christ brighter. In the early days of the church, they would teach and preach Christ daily in the temple and in every house. They had a desire to learn and to grow as a Christian. If Christians would just get on board with this thing of the Christian life, we could make a major difference in this world.

Now, we do not have church everyday to go to, but we can read God’s Word each and everyday. We can allow the Holy Spirit to work on our hearts each day with something from God’s Word. We can learn something. We ought to be reading and studying the Bible everyday. As we eat our three meals a day to get through life, we ought to eat our spiritual food to get through our spiritual life. Psalm 119:105 states, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” II Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

God’s Word and the good news of Jesus Christ is so important for us to have in our lives. That is why the early church ceased not to teach and preach Jesus daily. They realized the importance. The importance of this message has not changed a bit throughout time. It’s the most important message that exists. Let us not cease to tell others of Christ, and let us not cease to be in His Word daily. Acts 17:11 says, “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
