Casting All Your Care Upon Him

I Peter 5:7, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

The Greek word for “care” in this verse has to do with anxiety. Anxiety means, “a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.” The Lord gave this verse to me actually a few days before I read it in my daily devotions. He knew I needed it then, and yes I truly did.

Sometimes, life hits us hard. It seems like one thing after another is piling on. To say it simply, life gets hard. If we are a Christian though, God promises that He will neither leave us nor forsake us. He is right there with us for us to cast all of our care upon him. Some people will say, “God will never give us more than we can handle.” However, I do not believe that is true. I believe that God will never give us more than we can handle WITH God. See, if we could handle everything that life throws our way, we would have no need for God. That is why we go through hard things sometimes. God wants us to need Him.

God will never fail us. We can always count on Him to be there when we need Him most. He is right beside us waiting for us to cast our care upon Him. There’s a song entitled “All your Anxiety.” The lyrics are below. Let us bring our care to the Lord today. Let’s realize how much we need God each and every day. Let us cast our care upon Him.

Is there a heart o’erbound by sorrow?
Is there a life weighed down by care?
Come to the cross, each burden bearing;
All your anxiety—leave it there.

All your anxiety, all your care,
Bring to the mercy seat, leave it there,
Never a burden He cannot bear,
Never a friend like Jesus!
