Genesis 12:1-2, “Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:”
God told Abraham to leave his country. He didn’t tell him where he was going or which way to leave. He just told him to go. For those of us that have read and heard this before, we know that he did go, and the Lord blessed him greatly for it.
Before Abraham could reap the blessings, he had to have faith. Before Abraham found out where he was going, he had to have the faith to go. Isn’t that how the Lord works? God is leading us in a particular direction. We don’t know exactly where the destination is, but we know that God is leading us. We never find that destination without having the faith to go. It’s a journey that is made one step at a time. When we take a step, God reveals that next step to us.
We ought to trust God and have faith that He will take care of us no matter where He leads us. If God were to show us the destination, it would not be by faith. We would be living by sight, but we know that II Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” We must have faith. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him.” Let us do our best to grow our faith. Let us trust God that He will take care of us. Let’s do God’s will to the best of our ability even when we don’t know the end destination.
