Genesis 50:20, “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.”
Joseph is my favorite person in the Bible with the exception to Christ of course. I love the story of Joseph. He went through so much, but he still did that which was right. No one was looking, and he still did right. He had power, and he still did right. When Jacob passed away, Joseph’s brothers were afraid. They feared that Joseph would get them back for what his brothers did to him. Joseph was the second most powerful person in the world at this time, but he didn’t abuse that power. His response to their fear was the above verse. Everything that Joseph went through he said, “God meant it unto good.”
Do we respond like that in our life when hard times come? I’m not talking about the hard times that come because of our sin. I’m talking about the hard times that just come. Through everything in life, God has a purpose. God can use our hard times to strengthen us to become better Christians. Then, we will be able to help others. Because Joseph continued to do right in his hard times, he was able to rise to second in command in Egypt. With this position, he was able to help and save his family from starvation. Joseph was right when he said that God meant it for good.
What hard thing are you going through or have you been through? God wants to use it for good if you will let Him. You can either get mad at God and become bitter, or you can trust Him and allow Him to use it for good.
