When Moses Held Up His Hand

Exodus 17:11, “And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.”

Israel was in a battle with the Amalekites. This wasn’t your typical battle. It wasn’t about those IN the battle. It was about those that were NOT in the battle. When Moses lifted up his hands toward God, Israel prevailed, but when he put his hands down, Amalek prevailed. Aaron and Hur held up Moses’ hands when they were tired to help Israel prevail.

Doesn’t it seem like we have situations like this in life? There are times that when we pray, it goes well, but when we try to do things in our strength, we fail. God can help us in any situation. We just have to be humble enough to admit that we need God’s help. Let us never get so prideful that we feel we don’t need God’s help. Let us be humble enough to ask for God’s help in everything. Remember yesterday’s post. It is God that triumphs. He is the one that gets and gives the victory. We just have to remember and be humble to lift our hands toward God and ask him to help and strengthen us in each and every situation of life. What have you been trying to do in your own strength that you need to ask God to help you with today?
