Leviticus 4:35, “And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them upon the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the Lord : and the priest shall make an atonement for his sin that he hath committed, and it shall be forgiven him.”
Throughout my life, I have heard many people complain about the book of Leviticus. It lists all the laws of what they can eat, can’t eat, and so much more. I may or may not have been one of those people. This time though, I wanted to learn. God has given us His complete Word. If God didn’t want to give us the book of Leviticus, He would not have included it in the Bible.
Today, I was reading about sacrifices. The priest would take the sin offering of the people and sacrifice it as an atonement for their sin. As I read this, I became super glad that we don’t have to make sacrifices anymore. Why don’t we? We don’t make sacrifices because about 2,000 years ago, we had a Priest. This wasn’t just any Priest. He is the High Priest whose name is Jesus. He sacrificed His perfect self as the one and final atonement for the sins of mankind. This passage made me thankful for a God who loves people. It made me thankful for my salvation. Let us never be ungrateful for our salvation. Let us take it for granted. Let us be thankful for the sacrifice made by God to pay for our sins.
