Fear Me

Deuteronomy 5:29, “O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!”

God desires for mankind to fear Him. This does not mean that we are to be frightened and afraid of God. It means that we are to honor and respect God. If we have a true reverence for the Lord, obeying Him will come automatically.

Many do not have enough respect for God to obey Him in every area. Their love for the Lord is not what it should be. They are more concerned about themselves and doing what they want to do instead of obeying and following the Lord. I heard someone say that the opposite of love is not hate; it’s being self-centered. If we are self-centered, we will not fear the Lord like we should. On the other hand, if we fear the Lord like we should, we will not be self-centered. How is our fear this morning? Are we honoring and reverencing the Lord like we should?
