Joshua 24:15, “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord , choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord .”
This is a verse that I remember learning as I grew up in a Christian school. There were some issues in the camp of the Israelites. Joshua was speaking to the people, and he told them that they had to make a choice. He told them they had to serve someone. He gave them their options. Then, he boldly and confidently gave them his own choice he said, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
The choice The choice that Joshua presented to the Israelites that day is a choice that we must make in our personal lives as well. We will serve somebody whether we want to or not. Let us choose the serve the Lord. Let’s serve the one that will take care of us. Let’s serve the one that will never leave us nor forsake us. For some reason, many Christians struggle with those choice when it is so simple. Don’t just make the choice; live the choice. Your actions speak louder than your words. It’s not enough to just have, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” by your front door if you aren’t going to live it. Make the decision that you will serve the Lord today, and live it.
