Poured Out My Soul Before the Lord

1 Samuel 1:15, “And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord .

I love this account in the Bible. Hannah wanted a child so badly. She went to pray, and she was so sorrowful and praying so hard that Eli though she was drunk. Her response was that she was pouring out her soul before the Lord.

When was the last time that we poured our our soul to the Lord. When was the last time that we admitted that the only way for something to happen is to beg God for it? Too many times we try to do things ourself instead of pouring out our spirit before God. Hannah was childless, but after she poured out her spirit, God gave her a child. I’m not saying that God will give us anything we want as long as we pour our soul to God, but we do know that we have the promise from I John 5:14, “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.”

Christian, what is it that we need to beg God for today? Maybe it’s a personal matter. Maybe it’s a need of a friend or loved one. Whatever it is, let us pour out our soul before the Lord.
