1 Kings 15:34, “And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.”
Yesterday’s post focused on those we allow to influence us in our lives. If you have not read it, you can do so by clicking HERE. Today, I want to focus on the influence that we have on those around us.
The verse states that the King did evil and walked in the sin wherewith HE MADE Israel to sin. Because of the negative influence of King Baasha, Israel sinned. Now, that did not give the Israelites an excuse to sin, but the influence that Baasha has definitely impacted the behavior of the Israelites.
I remember sitting in church one day and hearing the statement, “Who is a better Christian because of you?” It’s really a good question to ponder. How is our influence? Is it one the has a positive impact on others? Are others pushed closer to the Lord because of us or is it the opposite? Do we make others want to serve God or does our influence discourage them from serving the Lord? Let us examine ourselves today and influence that we have on others. Let us make sure that we leave a positive influence on those around us.
