2 Chronicles 14:7, “[7] Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.”
In this passage of Scripture, King Asa was instructing the people to build. Asa was a good king. The Bible says that he did right in God’s sight. The verse states that Asa told them to build many different things, but I want to focus on one specific thing he told them to build. He told them to build walls.
Walls are built for two reasons. 1) To keep something in and 2) To keep something out. As Christians, we need to build some walls in our life. We need to have walls in place to keep temptations and sin out of our lives.
The end of the verse says that the people built, and they prospered. I’ve never met a successful and prosperous Christian who didn’t have some walls built in their life. Here are some areas we can build walls in our life: 1) What we watch, 2) What we listen to, 3) Who we spend time with, and the list goes on and on.
How are our walls today? Maybe you have walls in place. That’s great! Are they as high as they should be? The higher the wall, the greater the safety of those inside from outside attacks. If you don’t have walls built, build some today. The devil wants to attack and destroy your life. Don’t let him. Ask God to help you build some walls, so like the people in this chapter, you too can prosper.
