2 Chronicles 36:15-16, “[15] And the Lord God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: [16] But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, till there was no remedy.”
This passage tells about how God would send messengers to His people. He would do this because the verse states that God had compassion on them. His children were not living righteously in this time. Instead of just wiping them all out, He would send messengers to them to try to get them to change their ways.
The Bible says that the people begin to mock the messengers that God would send them. It resulted in the people having to face the wrath of God because they would not heed the messengers that God sent them. It states the people faced God‘s wrath until there was no remedy, or solution.
God is definitely a merciful God! God is more than a God that gives second chances. He gives third, fourth, fifth, etc. chances. God has His messengers that He uses to try and correct His children when they do wrong. There’s the Holy Spirit who lives inside of each and every child of God. There’s the pastor of the church that we attend. Some messengers are just Godly friends that we have in our life.
It is our responsibility to listen to the messengers God sends our way. God shows us enough compassion by sending us messengers instead of us having to face His wrath from the start. However, if we do not heed the messengers, our only other option is to face the wrath of God. The children of Israel did not listen time after time, and it resulted in 70 years of captivity.
This is the challenge today. Don’t push God’s compassion to the limit. Heed the messengers the first time. I’d much rather be a recipient of God’s compassion than God’s wrath. The people didn’t listen to the point the verse says there was no remedy, or treatment, because they had gone too far. Get right before it is too late. If you’re already right, purpose to stay right in your life.
