Ezra 6:21, “[21] And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat.”
The children of Israel were in captivity. However, that did not stop them from doing what they knew they were supposed to do. The verse states that they separated themselves from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, and they separated themselves to seek the Lord.
Too many people today want to blame the environment they live in along with blame others for their own actions. This should not be the case. The people in the verse separated themselves while in a heathen land surrounded by heathen people. Seeking God was so important to them that their environment did not matter. They were purposed to do what they knew was right.
Have you separated your self unto the Lord? Too many people want to talk, dress, and act like the world, but also be a “Christian.” That’s not how it works. God’s Word commands us to be separated in 2 Corinthians 6:17, “[17] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing ; and I will receive you.” Separation isn’t about what we lose; it’s about what we gain. Sure, we “lose out” on the heartaches and troubles of this world, but we gain fellowship with God.
What’s your reason for not separating into God? Is it others? Is it your environment? Stop making excuses. Those in the above verse didn’t make excuses. They just did what they knew was right. Let us strive today to separate ourselves to the Lord no matter the situation.
