It is Better to Trust in the Lord

Psalm 118:8-9, “[8] It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. [9] It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.”

It’s been said that these verses are the center of the Bible with the same amount of words/verses coming before and after. I am not sure on this as I personally have not counted. However, if that is true, these are two perfect verses to be right in the middle.

Personally, I think these verses very accurately state what the center of the Christian life boils down to. The entire Christian life revolves around trusting in the Lord. We trust in God for Salvation, and we trust in Him to guide throughout our life. When we go through hard times, we trust in God. When we determine to do God’s will, we are trusting in God. The happiest Christians are those that are trusting in the Lord. If you see a miserable Christian, you have found a Christian who is not trusting in the Lord.

The verses above state that it is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man and princes. Man and government (princes) are not the answer to anything we go through in life. We must trust in the Lord. Man and government will fail us, but we have a God that will never fail us.

How is your trust today? Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “[5] Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Are you trusting God in everything or is your confidence somewhere else? Put your confidence in God today and allow Him to direct your paths.
