Proverbs 24:9, “The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.”
Today’s topic is on our thought life. The verse does not say that foolishness is sin (which it is). It states that the thought of foolishness is sin. Many people today believe they are ok because they do not commit sin, but it does not stop there. God’s Word states that if we think of sinning, it is sin.
Jesus touches on this in Matthew 5:28, “But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” He didn’t say committing adultery is sin which it is. He said that if we even look and think to lust, it is just as bad as committing adultery.
Our thoughts are something that is between us and the Lord. No one else knows our thought life. There is little to none human accountability. Every action that we do comes from a thought to perform the action. If we want to keep our actions right, we must keep our thoughts right. Let us focus on having a righteous thought life. Let us ask God each and every day to help us with this.
