Fear Not

Isaiah 35:4, “Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.”

I want to focus on one phrase from this verse today. The phrase I want to focus on is, “Fear not.” This phrase is in the Bible dozens of times. For it to be in there that many times, it must be important for us to know and to apply it to our lives.

Fear is defined as, “An unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.” Fear is very common in today’s world, but from where does fear come? 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” I believe fear comes from a lack of faith.

Fear does not come from God. Instead, the verse states that God gives us a sound mind. God can calm all of our fears if we will trust Him to do so. Many have a fear of serving God. They fear that God will ask them to do something outside of their “comfort zone.” If we will trust God and surrender to His will, God will help us conquer all our fears. Do not let the fear of serving God keep you from serving God. Serving God is the greatest life one can live. If there are fears in your life that you are struggling with, pray and ask God to help you conquer your fears.
