Your Sins Have Withholden Good Things From You

Jeremiah 5:25, “Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.”

I want to focus on the second part of this verse, and it is so true. It seems that so many people want the blessings of God, but at the same time, they want to do their own thing with their life. They want to be able to enjoy and commit sin in their life, but they also want God to bless them. However, God does not work like that. If we want to go out and commit sin, God will withhold His blessings from us. The verse says, “Your sins have withholden good things from you.”

We must ask ourselves this question. Do we want to do our own thing with our life or do we want God’s blessings? Unfortunately, we cannot have both. God will only bless us if we follow His plan for our life. As I wrote about yesterday, forsaking God is evil according to God’s Word, and God will not bless evil.

Let us ask ourselves today if we want our own thing or if we want God’s blessing. Then, let us answer this honestly. I would hope our answer would be that we want God’s blessing. If it is, let us purpose to live in such a way that God will bless.
