We Acknowledge, O Lord, Our Wickedness

Jeremiah 14:20, “We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee.”

The topic of today’s post is taking responsibility for our actions. The verse states, “We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness.” So many people today will not take the blame and responsibility for their actions. They will come up with every excuse in the book before they will take the blame themselves.

Our world is a mess, but I believe that people taking responsibility for their actions would be a step in the right direction. David was called a man after God’s own heart. After his sin with Bathsheba, the prophet came to him to tell him of his fault. David said, “I have sinned.” David realized that it was his fault that he had sinned. He didn’t try to blame Bathsheba or anyone else for what he did. He took the blame himself.

Let us take responsibility for our actions today. We cannot go through life blaming others for what we do. We must own up to our faults and confess them to God. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Do not let anything be between yourself and the Lord. Let us confess our faults today to be sure that we are right with God.
