Matthew 22:37-38, “[37] Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment.”
Jesus Himself called this the first and great commandment. Of course, all of God’s commandments are great, but what makes this commandment greater than the rest? The answer is quite simple.
If we truly love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, we will obey the rest of God’s commandments without any issues. If we love God and He asks something of us, we are much more likely to obey than if we are not loving God as we should.
Our love for God will either make us or break us in our Christian lives. I would hope that it would make us. He has given us so many reasons to love Him and zero reasons not to love Him. Let us examine our love for the Lord today. Let us be sure we are loving God as we ought to.
