When It was Taken Up, They Journeyed

Numbers 9:20-23, “[20] And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the Lord they abode in their tents, and according to the commandment of the Lord they journeyed. [21] And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed. [22] Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed. [23] At the commandment of the Lord they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the Lord they journeyed: they kept the charge of the Lord, at the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses.”

This story gives us a good reminder for our lives. We may not always know every step in our journey. However, God does. Our job is not to plan out every step of our life. God has already done that. Our job is just to trust Him with the next step.

The children of Israel did not know where they were going next. Their job was just to follow the pillar of cloud during the day and to follow the pillar of fire at night. When it moved, they moved, but when it stayed, they stayed.

Let us focus today on not worrying about the unknowns that lie ahead. Let us focus on having faith in the One that already knows not only what lies ahead, but also how we can overcome. Let us trust in the Lord today.
