Numbers 13:30-33, “And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
God had promised the children of Israel this land that the spies were spend to spy out. Ten of them came back with a bad report saying that there was no way they could conquer the land because there were giants. Two of them came back saying that they definitely could take the land, for God had promised it to them.
How is our outlook on difficult circumstances in life? Do we act like the 10 and focus on how difficult our situation is? We should be like Caleb and Joshua. Though the odds did not seem to be in their favor, they trusted in the promises of God. They knew God would allow them to be victorious because He said that they would. How’s our outlook today? Are we focusing on the odds or are we trusting in God?
