Luke 9:42-43a, “And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father. And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God.”
Christian, does the mighty power of God amaze you? I would hope your answer would be “yes,” but does it truly amaze you? When something amazed you, you want to see more of it. As a child, I loved watching magic. It amazed me. I wanted to see more, and I wanted to be able to do it myself. I also love sports. As a child, I would be amazed at players that would make the big plays in the big moments. I would go outside and pretend to be in their situation and make the big play.
When someone is amazed at something, not only do they want to see it more, but I believe that they would want to experience it for themselves. If God’s power really amazes us, we should desire to see the same power of God work in our lives. Not only should we be amazed when God uses someone to reach someone with the Gospel, but we should want God to use us to reach someone with the Gospel. Let’s not sit back and be an intrigued fan of the Christian life and what God can do. Let us get into the game and experience it for ourselves. We just have to be usable. We don’t need great abilities and talents. I have heard before that the greatest ability that you can offer God is availability. If we are available and willing, God can use us. Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
