Joshua 5:14, “And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?”
Joshua’s reaction here should be the same reaction that we should have. The captain of the host of the Lord is what’s called a Christophany. It’s an Old Testament appearance of Jesus Christ. How do we know this? We know this from the fact that He accepted worship. He had a proper reaction when He cam before Jesus.
He fell on his face. This is a sign of humility. When we come before the Lord, we should do so with humility. Secondly, he worshipped Him. When we talk to the Lord, we ought to have a time of worship where we just thank and adore God. Lastly he said, “What saith my lord unto his servant.” He was ready to here what God wanted to tell him. How is our approach to the Lord? Is it with humility? Do we have a time of worship? Are we ready to hear what God wants to tell us? If not, we should be. Let us work on having the approach of Joshua today.
