God, Which Cannot Lie

Titus 1:2, “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.”

I love this verse because of the fact that it clearly states that God cannot lie. It gives a calm feeling knowing that whatever God says is true. We can rest assured in His Word. We know that God cannot lie. That is a given, but it causes me to have this question. If God can’t lie, why don’t we trust Him that way?

If you are like me, you have those that are very close to you. They are so close that no matter what they tell you, you will believe them. It could be the craziest thing, but you trust them enough that they are telling the truth. Well, God has never one time told a lie, and He has been around longer than the world has existed. God is trustworthy, and we should believe Him as such. If God makes a promise, He will keep that promise. If God says to follow Him, we should follow Him. If God says that He will supply all our need, then we ought to believe that God will supply all our need. If God says that all things work together for good to those that love God, then we ought to love and serve God knowing that all things will work out for good. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Let us trust the Lord each and every day of our lives, for God cannot lie.
